The Kimron Veterinary Institute (KVI) and the Istituto Zooprofilattico Sperimentale dell’Abruzzo e del Molise “G. Caporale” (IZSAM) organise the workshop “Integrated epidemiological models for risk-based surveillance approaches”. The event will take place at the International Centre for Veterinary Training and Information (CIFIV) of the IZSAM, in Teramo (Italy) on 16 October 2019. The mission of the Animal Health and Welfare ERA-Net (ANIHWA) consortium is to increase cooperation and coordination of national research programmes on animal health and welfare of farm animals, including fish and bees. The cooperation and coordination among the partners are deepened by: - systematic exchange of information and mapping of national research activities and facilities, - gap analysis and preparation of a dedicated strategic research agenda, - thorough assessment of the funding mechanisms with increased number of joint calls and, finally, strategic activities aimed at a sustainable development and extension of the network. The workshop will offer the opportunity to: - describe and discuss the activities performed by the institutes participating in the consortium; - identify the needs for the reassessment and re-planning of the project activities; - identify collaborations with other projects and the sharing of knowledge generated by the different ongoing projects; - identify sources of funding for follow up projects; - propose the integration of new risk-based approaches into the ongoing surveillance activities in the European and Mediterranean countries.
